okay day 2  here's what we did
we went to penguin island...
saw penguins
pelicans
seagulls
sealions
...

still the island was about 15 minutes offshore south of perth...
but... the island can be reached by a sand bar..
a sand bar:
a sand bar is a raised piece of land which is hidden under the sea...

the sandbar allowed people who did not want to take a ferry over walk to the island 
however, the tide must be kept watched
the ferry ticket is for a to and fro trip...
if you were to use the sand bar and the tide raised whilst you were on the island,
you would not be able to return to mainland western australia until the tide went out
oh and by the way,
THE WAER THERE IS EXTREMELY CLEAN!!!
you can see all teh way to the seabed...
and the colour of the water there depends on what is found underneath the water...
